DCP_0425.JPG
64 viewsHere's the dash, It used to be a full Veneer job, quite rare I believe, but somebody in the INFINITE wisdom decided to paint it black !

I hate it and Im now gonna start the recovering project.
DCP_0426.JPG
44 viewsOi !!! Where's me door gone !
DCP_0427.JPG
42 viewsAha There it is ! ready to be transformed !
DCP_0428.JPG
43 viewsHere is the rear of the door, you can see the colour of the original leather, it's a little bit darker, but should be ok :).... I Hope......
DCP_0430.JPG
35 viewsHere's antother picture of the door prior to recovering, God it's horrible looking :)
DCP_0440.JPG
44 viewsThe recovered door from the front, not too bad, quite pleased, night and day compared to the black paint !
DCP_0444.JPG
37 viewsHmmm , Flash photo is highlighting the contours more than I hoped, but when it's on the door you'll never see it.
DCP_0445.JPG
37 viewsOk the Final result, looks fine to me !
DCP_0446.JPG
38 viewsA shot of the fitted door.... Rest of the dash is next....... Again bear in mind the material appears VERY blue in these photos, but in real life they are close enuff to the door cards etc... (especially when I give them a good clean)
DCP_0447.JPG
35 viewsAfter shot (before I get the handle added), looks VERY blue in this flash photo, but doesn't appear that bright in daylight, Hopefully when I give the other interior bits a good clean they will be even closer colourwise
DCP_0448.JPG
32 viewsI've added the handle now, I chose this hanndle as it's plain and hopefully will match the alloy bits Im getting for the rest of the dash. i.e. Bezels for the clocks etc...
DCP_0449.JPG
39 viewsDrivers view of glovebox door with handle..... Now the rest of the dash.......
DCP_0450.JPG
27 viewsFront view of glovebox door with handle
DCP_0460.JPG
36 viewsMore parts recovered... These panels are from the passenger and drivers side footwells, basically side panels for the Dashboard, to hide all the wiring :)
DCP_0463.JPG
51 viewsSteering wheel off and side panels removed, hmm LOTS of wires, perhaps I'll just start tonight by taking the radio out, It is almost midnight !
DCP_0464.JPG
37 viewsHmm some third party wiring going on here, Im gonna have to trace all these extra bits to see what they are !
DCP_0465.JPG
44 viewsA quick photo from the drivers footwell, looking up to the speedo and rev counter
DCP_0466.JPG
37 viewsThis is the location for the only Bolts holding the dash in at the front, Obviously the same bolt is at the passenger side.
DCP_0467.JPG
36 viewsHere you can see the only other screws that hold the dash in place, one at each side of the rear of the transmission tunnel, behind seats
DCP_0468.JPG
38 viewsRight I'll pop the wiring out of the radio, and that'll do me for the night....
DCP_0470.JPG
42 viewsOK thats the easy bit, removing the radio, It's around midnight, I should really goto bed, but I'll take a few minutes to look at the wiring under the dash..... I won't be long.....
DCP_0471.JPG
46 viewsHere's the nut and bolt that holds the passenger side of the dash in, a little bit of surface rust on the nut, not too bad for a 13 year old car.
DCP_0472.JPG
41 viewsHere's a picture behind the dash, from the passenger footwell, All I can say is Im glad the car is a convertible or this dash was never coming out !!!!,

Picture the scene, My head in the footwell, my feet in the air !

Anyway, maybe I'll remove the Fan switch, just the fan switch to see how hard things are to remove............
DCP_0473.JPG
46 viewsRight thats all the wiring removed, just to pull out dash..... Hold on, wasn't I supposed to be just removing ONE SWITCH !!!!

I got completely caught up removing and labeling and documenting the wiring I just continued until I was finished, anyway come on dash out you come

Bugger forgot about heater controls... Gimme 5 mins
DCP_0475.JPG
44 viewsHolt sh!t, what have I started !!!
DCP_0479.JPG
46 viewsJust another photo of the removed dash, also showing my Kitchen, which I was supposed to tidy up, but instead I went out to the garage for a while......
DCP_0480.JPG
48 viewsInteresting, a number and a name written on the top of the glovebox.

Wonder what it means ?
DCP_0481.JPG
57 viewsA photo of the back of the dash showing how the gauges are mounted.

Also shown is the clock in the background, almost 2:00am !!!

I was only supposed to remove the radio tonight !!!
DCP_0482.JPG
47 viewsYAY Dash is out and in my kitchen, I was going to goto bed, but Im gonna remove these gauges first.
DCP_0483.JPG
52 viewsRight it's 2.30 and Im actually finished, the dash is stripped down ready for rubbing down prior to recovering..... oops forgot to remover the dash lights plastic strip..... I'll do that now and get to bed.
